Our Ongoing Charity Work

Our Ongoing Charity Work

Since we first left the world of television and established Picture Book Films, we have had the pleasure of working with the most diverse range of clients. We’ve worked with businesses of all sizes, from single person startups to global corporations but we’re equally proud of the great work we do for charitable causes.

As an ethical production company, we pride ourselves on doing our bit to give back, which is why we regularly create content for causes we believe in. We’re proud to be partnered with Chestnut Tree House, the children’s hospice for Sussex. We provide crews free of charge to film their annual awards honouring their biggest achievers.

We’re also currently embarking on a major project with Music and Memory- a charity which brings personalized music into the lives of the elderly through digital technology- vastly improving their lives and helping make a connection with people isolated by dementia.

Our production team are donating their time and skills for free to help the charity create video content and training materials to help change the lives of millions of elderly and infirm people.

Our company leader, James, is also a volunteer crewmember and the Press Officer for RNLI Newhaven. He supports the organisation by giving up his time to man the lifeboat as well as creating content to help sustain their life saving work for the future. It’s for this reason we continue to help charities regularly to this day.

So often they are priced out of the market when it comes to professional creative services but their causes deserve recognition and need exposure to drive further support. This was the case with local organisation, Plastic Free Pledge, and their ‘Destraw’ campaign.

After seeing the damage caused in the oceans by single use plastics, founders Claire Potter and Jake Arney took action. They set up the pledge with the intention to help make Brighton & Hove free of plastic straws. Little did they know what a resounding success it would become, spreading all over the world and getting pledges from an eclectic range of businesses.

Being Brighton residents ourselves, we’re proud that such a great cause is being pioneered by the city’s businesses and we wanted to get involved. We approached Claire and offered to create them a short video to showcase the fantastic work they’ve done. During the filming process recently we interviewed Claire about the cause as well as visit some of the supporting businesses that have taken the pledge.

Speaking with Small Batch Coffee’s Laura Lumsden and the British Airways i360 Chief Executive Steve Bax, we got to hear why this cause is being supported by so many local businesses as well as seeing first hand how easy it is to do. For us it’s a no brainer so we wanted to show that on their behalf with our video. The video will be released in the coming weeks and we sincerely hope that it helps propel them to further success.

And that’s not the only video due out soon. We recently filmed RISE Heroes Run on the beautiful seafront by Hove Lawns. As video partners with Brighton Marathon, we knew our experience shooting these events would compliment this charity run. The day was fun filled with people of all ages dressed as their favourite heroes running to support an incredible cause.

RISE is an independent, Brighton-based registered charity that helps people affected by domestic abuse. They offer practical help ranging from direct advice to refuge accommodation for those whose lives are at risk.

Being able to support this charity even in the smallest way is the least we can do and we look forward to doing so again next year. Look out for the highlights video launching soon!
